John Delgado
John Delgado graduated from Emory University in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1975 and began working for the Richland County Public Defender. He subsequently worked as Executive Director of Palmetto Legal Services. He was the principal in his own practice, John Delgado, P.A., before becoming a partner in Bluestein, Nichols, Thompson & Delgado, LLC in 2007. John limits his practice to criminal defense in State and Federal Court and plaintiffs' personal injury claims. His areas of criminal federal practice include mail and wire fraud; money laundering; grand jury representation; and perjury, false statements, and obstruction of justice
John is a former president and a founding member of the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He holds memberships in the Federal Bar Association and the South Carolina Association for Justice. He is admitted to practice in all South Carolina state courts, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
John is on the faculties of the National Criminal Defense College at Mercer University (Macon, GA) and the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program at Cardozo Law School (New York, NY). He is a former Adjunct Professor of Law and Director of Trial Advocacy at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he taught Trial Advocacy. In addition, he has lectured and presented nationally on criminal trial practice issues and procedures.
John has received several honors and distinctions. He was honored in August of 2010 as a recipient of South Carolina Lawyers Weekly's Leadership in Law award. He was also selected as one of Greater Columbia Business Monthly's 2010 Legal Elite
John is married and has three children who have all left home but who are never gone.
